In Kills

A long time ago, when the continental glaciers retreated from what is now the Finger Lakes region of Western New York, all of that water had to go somewhere. Well, it filled up the five Great Lakes and the eleven Finger Lakes. (must be one toe?) Water in lakes is cool but it's even cooler when it's in freefall over a ledge or down a gully.
I've been searching out waterfalls for a long time, in pre-Internet days I'd find likely waterfalls in kills from the topographic maps where the blue line of a river/ stream/ brook/ creek/ kill crosses the dense, tightly packed contour lines signifying steep terrain. It's been said that there are therapeutic benefits hanging out near waterfalls -- sort of a cleansing action of negative ions in air effect. A lot of what's been written wouldn't hold water scientifically, and left-brain speaking; but I don't think it's totally bogus either. After a day by, and in, the water, I do feel refreshed.
Oh yeah, about wet sneakers -- just stuff crumpled newspaper in them and they'll dry out evenly and quickly.
And a question on the photos for those readers who'd want to offer their opinion ..... Do you prefer the stop action sharp version of flowing water or the blurred, silky effect of water in motion due to slow shutter speed?
